In a Car Showroom
Mr. Black: Good morning.
Salesman: Good morning, sir. Can I help you?
Mr. Black: Well, yes. I want to buy a car.
Salesman: Have you anything in mind?
Mr. Black: Oh, I don’t want a very big car or a very expensive one.
Salesman: Let’s see… We’ve got a Mini here. It’s cheap to run: it does 38 miles per gallon. Also it’s smaller and easier to park than the other cars.
Mr. Black: No, the Mini is too small for me. I’ve got a large family. Isn’t there a bigger car at not more than £ 10,000?
Salesman: Well, pehaps you’d like to have a look at that Renault or at the Toyota to the right of the Renault. The Toyota costs £ 9,240 and it is a very comfortable car. The Renault costs a little more than the Toyota, but it is cheaper to run.
Mr. Black: And what about Volkswagen over there, behind the Renault? How much is that?
Salesman: A little more than £ 8,500. It only does 34 miles per gallon, but it is faster than the Toyota or the Renault. Its top speed is 90 miles per hour.
Mr. Black: Well, thank you very much. I’ll have to think about it and talk it over with my wife. Goodbye.
Salesman: Goodbye, sir.
