A Successful Pop Group
“The Tigers” are a very successful pop group of four young boys from Manchester. They only syarted to play a year ago and they are only sixteen and seventeen now.
Chris Robins is the lead singer. Bob Henley is the lead guitarist. George Owen is the bass guitarist and his brother Tom is the drummer. Tom composes songs for the group and he writes the lyrics, too. George and Tom started to play in their school orchestra a few years ago. Their father, John Owen, helped them all along, and now he is the group’s manager. He thinks they will go far. They are quite well known already.
“The Tigers” play at discoes and also perform at parties, school dances and clubs. They play their own music and also popular hits from the Top Twenty. They are not fully professional yet. Two of them work in a local supermarket and the other two are still at school. “The Tigers” practice in the afternoons and perform in the evenings. They earn about £50for each performance.
They need money to buy more equipment and better instruments and it will be a long time before they can earn enough from their music. But they enjoy their life as a pop group and they hope that they will be famous one day.
