TRANSKRYPCJA:
Unsual Jobs
Lots of people work as engineers, teachers, doctors, shop assistants and factory workers. Their jobs are quite ordinary. But some people have really unusual jobs.
Bill, for instance, is a stuntman. What does a stuntman do? Film stars do not usually like to jump from high places, crash cars or run along the top of an express train. Bill does all those things for them and many others. A stuntman’s work is very dangerous and stuntmen sometimes get hurt.
Richard’s job is very different. He is a doctor and he likes flying. So one day he became a flying doctor. Richard has got a special aeroplane with all kinds of machines in it, for example a cardiograph. He can look after sick people in his flying hospital. A nurse always travels with him and helps him to look after his patients.
Another unusual job is that of a bee-keeper. It is still more unusual when the bee-keeper is a girl and when she keeps her bees in London, like Moira. Bees like London because it is warm. There are a lot of trees in London and bees can make a lot of honey. But people in Moira’s street do not like her bees very much.
Betty’s job is also quite unusual, for a girl of course. She is a lorry driver. Just now she is working in Scotland. One hundred people are building a big hotel in Inverness. Betty and ten other girls drive big lorries and do a lot of other difficult and dangerous jobs. They are as good at them as men.
